WINDSHIELD | GLASS REPLACEMENT

Windshields are composed of two pieces of glass with a layer of vinyl in between, and they’re designed to protect and support the structural integrity of a vehicle. However, if a windshield has been weakened due to damage, it may not provide optimal protection during a collision.

The airbags on vehicles are designed to inflate upward, towards the windshield and use the windshield as support to hold the airbags into operating shape or the operating area.

So a crack running along on a windshield, even a small chip could allow the force of the airbag to punch (push) the glass outward, rather than give you the collision protection and support.

BACK GLASS

The back glass or rear glass is located opposite of the windshield, located in the back of the vehicle, creating a barrier to the outside. Similar to the windshield, the back glass helps the vehicle keep its rigid frame and protects passengers in the vehicle.

Like the windshield, every make and model has a different back glass. However, many have the same features that are designed to keep occupants of the vehicle safe and make it easier to drive in different conditions.

All back glass must be clean and clear so a driver can utilize the rearview mirror properly. If you notice lines on your back glass that is the rear defrost system. Those lines run a small current of electricity to heat the back glass.

SIDE-VIEW MIRROR REPLACEMENT

A side view mirror, sometimes referred to as a door mirror, wing mirror, or fender mirror, is the exterior mirror located on each side of a vehicle, which is an important safety feature because, when angled correctly, it allows the driver to see what is in the blind spot of their peripheral vision.

On most vehicles today, side view mirrors are mounted to the front driver and passenger side doors, but on a few models they are mounted to the fenders. Your vehicle's side-view mirror plays a major role in the appearance and safety of your car or truck.

VAN WINDOW REPLACEMENT

Originally, the glass in a van conversion window was bent before installation in a frame. Around 1981, window manufacturers began using flat glass that was secured to the window frame that was contoured in the last stages of manufacturing. In glass replacement for a van conversion window, the glass demonstrates its ability to return to its original flat state. That's why glass replacements must be pressed into the bent frame then secured with a glass clip. Your Trust auto glass Company customer service representative will need all the information on the window to ensure your replacement glass will bend into the frame correctly.

QUARTER & VENT GLASS REPLACEMENT

Vent and Quarter Glass

Vent Glass

Vent glass is generally mounted to the sides of the vehicles, normally near the door glass. Vent glass can in a few cases be tilted open. In recent history, almost no vent glasses open on passengers’ vehicles. The purpose of a vent glass is to allow the door glass to able to roll down farther than they would without the vent glass. The vent glass allows the door glass to roll down past the wheel well. Vent glasses are in the rear and front of windows or sometimes in the front of the front doors. Vent glasses were developed to allow air flow to passengers prior to air conditioning in vehicles and provide a quick look of the surroundings to allow for a safe driving.

Quarter Glass

Quarter glass is used to help drivers see the surrounding area. A quarter glass is designed to shatter into tiny pieces to prevent harm. A quarter glass is normally the last piece of glass on the side of the vehicle. They can be located before the front door glass or after the rear door glass. Quarter glasses may be stationary or retractable.
